High Quality Socks, Textiles and Worsted Yarns Designed & Spun in Devon

stars in the sky

Stars in the sky is a textured, square shawl that is seamlessly knit in 3 sections. First a center square is knit on the bias in a simple textured stitch pattern. Second, stitches are picked up along the outer edge of the square and a star stitch border is knit around the center square. The border incorporates subtle striping to showcase the beautiful colour gradations in Alpaca Supreme. Last, a simple crochet picot edging is worked around the outside of the shawl to finish.

John Arbon Textiles & Fibre Harvest - British makers of unisex socks, yarns and fibres

At John Arbon Textiles we are a small family-run business, nestled in North Devon, producing a wide range of luxury unisex socks in the UK.

Sister Company, Fibre Harvest, uses traditional worsted machinery to process & spin fine quality British yarns - one of only a handful of small scale worsted Mills still operating in the UK.

Our Production concept is simple - a return to the old style of textile manufacture...sourcing raw fibre (locally wherever possible) & converting it in Britain into high quality hand knit yarns & the very sock yarn used to knit our luxury British made socks.

John Arbon, our trusty leader, has 18 years experience in all things woolly. He makes the world of fibres, yarns and textiles come alive with his unceasing enthusiasm and never ending energy.

Under his guidance, we've moved our Mill to South Molton. It took 3 months to carefully dismantle, re-furbish & re-assemble our vintage textile machinery. Now everything is running smoother than ever & the aim is to expand within our new space and quadruple production.

We lovingly make our own range of fine hand knit yarns (such as Excelana, Alpaca Supreme, Knit by Numbers) & fine yarns to knit our luxury sock styles (from hard-wearing Walking to cosy Bed and everyday Dress socks).

Our New Developments this year bring you:

STRIPY SOCKS - a re-design by John and Juliet of one of our most popular ranges

HAYWARD - a beautiful DK range of marls developed by Sara

VIOLA - a seductive colour-blended range of DK created by Emily

EXMOOR SOCK YARN - a robust yet subtle light 4ply produced by John

PATTERNS - the first few of a run of patterns designed by Emily using our yarn ranges.
