Vaffel Tee - by Kari-Helene Rane

£5.00

Vaffell Tee is a lightweight and luxurious knit ideal for layering in winter or on its own in spring and autumn. It is intentionally knitted on larger needles for a luxurious and light feel utilising the gorgeously soft KBN range from John Arbon Textiles. The simple shape combined with the detailed stiches and finishes makes this an interesting knit without being too challenging. Perfect for an advanced beginner or as a fun engaging knit for the more experienced.

Yarn: John Arbon Textiles Knit By Numbers, 4ply (100% Merino) approx 400m per 100g

Shown in: KBN 4ply 90 - 2 (2, 3, 3, 4, 4) skeins.

Needles: 5mm straight or circular needles, 4mm circular needle with 40cm cable for neckline.

Notions: Cable needle (5mm), 2 stitch markers

Gauge: 20 sts and 28 rows over 10 cm / 4 in, in stocking stitch with 5mm needles, after washing and blocking.

Garment Bust: XS (S, M, L, XL, XXL)
73 (83, 93,102.5, 112, 122) cm / 29 (33, 37, 41, 44, 48)"

Notes: Vaffel is knitted flat and in one piece starting from the front hem and worked towards the shoulder, split at the shoulder for neckline and then worked from the shoulder to the back hem. However, should the knitter wish to work the stocking stitch body of the tee in the round, a separate note has been made for this in brackets. Make sure to wet block the tension square before casting on as due to the large needle size, the tension (especially the rows) can alter by a large amount.

John Arbon Textiles & Fibre Harvest - British makers of yarns and fibres

Welcome to John Arbon Textiles' website, every page adorned with our luxury Yarns & Fibre Tops, a fine array of woolly wonders.

Nestled in the heart of North Devon, our Mill is one of only a handful of small-scale, specialist worsted processing & spinning Mills still operating in the UK. Full of refurbished machinery John has rescued over the years, with some newer additions along the way, the Mill is where we create, develop and make all our Yarn & Fibre Tops ranges. The new Mill arrival, Italian cone winder (Gino) has settled in splendidly, whilst Gillian the skeiner (one of our oldest machines at over 100 years of age) has had a re-vamp & is running smoother than ever.

Some of our ranges are... Knit by Numbers (100% organically farmed Merino in over 100 gradient shades), Exmoor Sock (our newest addition), Exmoor Zwartbles 4ply & DK (wonderfully woolly & hardwearing), Harvest Hues (bouncy with deep, rich shades), and Devonia (brimming with drape and lustre). Many of these glorious ranges are made using sheep reared and sheared on our doorstep in Devon, as it is important to John to incorporate local & rare breed fleeces wherever possible.

This last year has been a rollercoaster of woolly excitement - we passed the sock side of our business onto Kim Kearney (Arbon Socks) in order to focus wholeheartedly on producing our specialist Yarn & Tops. Our South Molton Mill folk, led enthusiastically by John, are Helena, Jack, Phil, Tash & Frankie (who's come back to the fold proper) - a fantastic team of woolly magicians. Generous amounts of backup comes from Juliet & Sonja (an invaluable new addition) based at our Lynton shop & office, which steadfast assistance from Judi & Ginette.

2019 sees our 5th Mill Open Weekend & Sale on 8th & 9th June, whilst we look forward to attending shows such as Unravel, Edinburgh Yarn Festival, Wonderwool, Woolfest, Fibre East & Yarndale.

Thanks to all our loyal customers for your warm wholehearted support & encouragement. We couldn't do it without you.

All the best indeed

John & Juliet
