Drucilla is a very versatile shawl that can be crocheted in laceweight up to DK yarn. The pattern can be used with any of those weight yarns in the John Arbon Textiles range.
Simple and repetitive V-stitches mean you can crochet a triangular shawl, increasing the row lengths as you go. If you fancy a really snuggly double thickness shawl, you can crochet Drucilla corner to corner (C2C).
A simple border is added, either using the same yarn or a contrast colour. Using a weight percentage system, you can work out how much yarn you need. The border requires up to 10% of the weight of the main body of the shawl. For example:
- The Appledore heavy laceweight C2C version uses 180g for the main body and 18g of the same colour for the border.
- The Devonia 4ply triangular version uses 200g for the main body and 20g for the contrast colour border.
- The Knit by Numbers DK triangular version uses 200g for the main body and 20g for the contrast colour border.

Pattern Notes
The border will use approximately 10% of the weight of the yarn used for the main body of the shawl. If you plan to crochet your version of Drucilla all in one colour, make sure you stop working the increase section leaving enough yarn for the border.
If you make a corner-to-corner (C2C) version of Drucilla, you will use approximately half of your main body yarn on the increase section, then half on the decrease section. It’s best to use slightly less than half on the increase section, to ensure you don’t run out of yarn.
