Moonlight Mile Tops – Hand Dyed by Cat & Sparrow

£15.50 per 100g braid

We are chuffed to bits that Rachael from Cat and Sparrow decided to collaborate with us on this wondrous base. The base is a spectacular blend of British Romney and Silk (scrummy!) and we spin it for Rachael right here in our Mill. It’s fantastic to see it back here again looking even more spectacular than when we sent it her way.

As a woman after our own heart, Rachael has named this blend ‘Rolling Stone Sock,’ after the famous band. All her shades are named after song titles so, of course, ‘Wild Horses’ couldn’t have stopped us from joining Rachael in this collab! We know ‘You can’t always get what you want’, but this time we definitely got a sense of ‘Satisfaction’ when these beautiful skeins and fibre came back to the Mill dyed up. We’re a ‘Happy’ bunch of Mill Folk, as it’s definitely ‘Hot Stuff’… Okay we’ll stop with the puns now – hehehee!

Rachael was inspired by the song title – ‘Moonlight Mile’ and we just love the way she’s interpreted it! With a darker moody blue shade inspired by the night sky. It has a real air of sophistication and, due to that silk content, an amazing shimmer just like a balmy early autumn evening! bliss

Blend

At Cat and Sparrow, this mix of fibres makes a fantastic sock blend, and we have to agree. It’s a fantastic mix of lustrous, textured Romney and silk, which adds drape and strength to the 3-ply construction. Romney is warm, soft and hardwearing and also resists pilling, but has a gentle fuzziness.  It has a lovely toothy feel and great stitch definition, making it idea for colourwork, especially steeking projects. The silk adds luxury and strength and a soft shine.
