Snakes & Ladders Hat and Mitten Set – by Helena Timms

An easy, beginners knit comprising a pair of simple mittens and matching hat with a cable and garter stitch repeat representing  snakes (cables) and ladders (garter). Worked in Harvest Hues Worsted weight yarn for a quick but warm project. The hat has an optional pompom and the mittens have a fingerless option as well.

John Arbon Textiles Harvest Hues, Worsted / Light Aran (35% organically farmed Falklands Merino, 35% Devon Zwartbles; 200 metres per 100g)
Shown in: Russet; 2 skeins (1 skein required for each of hat and mittens)

Mitten Sizes – Small [Medium, Large]

Palm circumference: 19 [21.5, 24] cm or 7.5 [8.5, 9.5]”
Mitten length: 28.5 [30.5, 32] cm or 11.25 [12, 12.5]”
Fingerless mitt length: 23 cm / 9″

Hat Sizes – Small [Medium, Large]

Circumference: 50 [54, 58] cm / 20 [21.5, 23]”

Note: If you want to add length, it is easiest to add extra rib rows, or a pattern repeat. One full pattern repeat will add approx. 2.5 cm / 1 “
