Spring Pastels – Limited Edition Devonia 4ply
To celebrate our return to Wonderwool Wales this year, and to revel in some spring-like weather here in Devon, we created two special shades of Devonia tops – Primrose Drift and April Showers. We had bags of fun showing these limited shades off at Wonderwool and were thrilled you folks loved them as much as we do, but if you couldn’t join us for the fibre festivities, worry not!
Our Lauren is ever so partial to a pretty pastel so it’s no surprise that this is what she blended up for us when creating a Devonia Special. April Showers is a bright and vivid aqua blue-green, with hints of lighter and darker turquoise within. Primrose Drift is a lovely pale lemon-lime shade that perfectly epitomises it’s floral name-sake. Both shades pair beautifully together too and we’d love to see them used in the same project.

Devonia
Devonia is one of our all time favourite bases. It is rather special to us as it is the first blend we created which was made exclusively using local West Country fibre, something we are now doing more and more of as we loves it! For Devonia we chose a beautiful blend of Exmoor Blueface, Bluefaced Leicester and Lustre breeds. The Exmoor Blueface is our local sheep and brings its wonderful springy nature, the Bluefaced Leicester lends its outstandingly soft handle and lustre to the yarn, whilst the lustre breeds (a combo of Wensleydale and Romney) add their qualities of beautiful golden sheen and fine drape.
Together they create a wonderfully drapey lustrous blend, with just a dash of woolly bounce. Whether you’re spinning your own, or working with our Mill spun, its a go-to fibre for any time you want a little swing, like shawls and drapey cardis.
