You can preorder the Annual (issue five) mid August – keep an eye on the website and our newsletter for the preorder announcement.

Meet: Prestwick Pebble Wrap by Lola Johnson

Lola’s Prestwick Pebble Wrap draws inspiration from days by the Ayrshire seaside in southwest Scotland, wandering over pebbles, spotting colourful shells that get buried under the waves as the tide comes in. It echoes the waves in different textured stitch patterns and colours that invite to play with your favourite colours.

The Prestwick Pebble Wrap is perfect for drapey 4ply yarns such as Exmoor Sock and our new Seafarer Sport (coming in Autumn 2025):

Left to right:

  • Exmoor Sock in Mizzle (MC), Drizzle (CC1), Mackerel Sky (CC2) and Fairy Thimble (CC3)
  • Seafarer in Nuggle (MC), Melusine (CC1), Megalodon (CC2) and Pisces (CC3)

For the Annual (issue five), we thought it’d be fun to introduce you to our designers and patterns one by one, and ask them a few questions about the inspiration behind the design, what they liked about the yarn they worked with, and their favourite beach memory. Without further ado – meet Lola Johnson, designer of the Prestwick Pebble Wrap!

Hi Lola! Thank you for taking the time to chat with us! Let’s start with the idea of your submission for the Annual (issue five):

What’s the main inspiration behind the Prestwick Pebble Wrap?

Waves and lace was inspired by wandering over Scottish beaches, the sand at Ayr and Portobello and the pebble beach at Prestwick with all the little bits of beach glass and pretty pebbles you spot as you amble along.

What’s your favourite element of the design?

The sand stitch is one of my favourite elements of the design as I find it quite a meditative stitch, it reminds me of being pitched up listening to the waves. The texture and tactile nature of the stitch, adds body to wrap.

What makes Exmoor Sock and the Prestwick Pebble Wrap such a great combination?

Exmoor Sock is a lovely yarn and it works so well for different projects. It is strong and hard wearing knit at a tight gauge, at a loose gauge it fluffs out beautifully to fill the space and keeps one warm whilst draping well.

What’s your favourite beach memory?

Shell hunting on white sand beaches and watching the crabs scuttle back and forth in the sun as a young kid.

Thank you so much, Lola, for taking the time to answer our questions! You can find more about them over on Instagram, Payhip and their website.

The Annual (issue five) will be available for preorder mid August. Keep your eyes peeled on the blog for more pattern intros, and on our newsletter for the preorder release!
