Pretty Spring Shawls

Looking for something delicate but warm for the changeable spring weather? Here are some of our favourite spring shawl knitting and crochet patterns:

There are lots of lovely options that work well in our scrummy Knit by Numbers yarn, where you can choose from over 115 colours to get the perfect spring shade for you.

Some on our wish lists are, ‘Feyla’ (above left) by Trin-Annelie (Ravelry), ‘Palmyre’ (top middle) by Nadia Cretin Lechenne (Ravelry) for its lovely delicate edging, ‘Quilisma’ (bottom middle) by Audrey Borrego (Ravelry) for a nice interesting asymmetric option, and Dee Hardwicke’s ‘Meadow Wrap’ (above right) (Ravelry | Etsy) for a big cosy option in pretty spring colours and patterns.

L-R: Anemone Shawl’ by Dee Hardwicke, ‘Barton Hap’ by Zeens and Rogers, ‘Drucilla’ by Fay Dashper-Hughes

Dee’s ‘Anemone Shawl’ (Ravelry | Etsy) in Appledore DK, with its striking flower motif, is also lovely, as is Zeens and Rogers ‘Barton Hap’ (Ravelry | Etsy)  from The Annual, issue three. This crochet pattern can be worked as either a full or half-hap, so it’s perfect for uncertain weather! Another hap style crochet pattern we love is Fay Dashper-Hughes’ ‘Drucilla’ (Ravelry) from The Annual, issue one – we like it so much we had our own mill folk mini CAL for it one year!

L-R: ‘Doppio Shawl’ by Fay Dashper-Hughes and ‘Fantoosh!’ by Kate Davies

Fay’s ‘Doppio Shawl’ (Ravelry) is a great little option in Devonia that can either be knit or crochet and has been a firm favourite for years now. Kate Davies’ ‘Fantoosh!’ (Ravelry) in Devonia is also one of our favourites – Donna had to cast this on immediately after Kate made her version in ‘Pebble Brook’.

L-R: ‘Pachira’ by Sonja Bargielowska and the ‘Florence Shawl’ by Florence Spurling

Fancy trying out our glorious new Seafarer range? With a mix of British Wool and heavenly Silk, you combine great stitch definition and warmth, with sheen and drape! Here are our top picks:

Our Sonja Bargielowska has a beautiful option – ‘Pachira’ (Ravelry) which is lovely in a sport weight. Another great option is the ‘Florence Shawl’ by Florence Spurling (Ravelry | Florence’s Website) with its fun little flower motifs on the border. Our friend Francesca Hughes has some beautiful options that were originally knit up in Alpaca Supreme. They would look fab in Seafarer too –  ‘Plus Copper’ (Ravelry | Lovecrafts) and ‘Sweet Clementine’ (Ravelry | Lovecrafts are stunning).

Seafarer is currently available as a preview for our Mill Members only, and will be widely released on Friday 2nd May, with more shades of tops and yarns coming soon in the next month or two!

We’d love to know what your favourite spring shawls are, and what’s in your wish list!
