Devonia is rather special to us as it’s the first blend we

Our Devon Naturals range is a curated selection of our local wool in undyed gradient shades. We offer two blends: One consisting of Exmoor Blueface and Zwartbles, and the second one of Grey Exmoor Blueface and Romney. The Zwartbles/Exmoor Blueface is super bouncy and robust, and the Grey Exmoor Blueface/Romney is softer and more lustrous.

Exmoor Sock not only celebrates Exmoor, but is designed to be perfect for socks, whilst still having the versatility to suit garments and accessories that relish a hard-wearing, machine-washable yarn. It’s durable and bouncy, with great stitch definition and holds up incredibly well. We offer our Exmoor Sock in 50g skeins so that 3 skeins will make you two pairs of socks in most sizes!

With Harvest Hues, we were inspired by the subtle tones of autumn in Devon. Blending the saturated tones of our dyed Falklands Merino and lustrous Bluefaced Leicester with the naturally dark fibre of local Zwartbles, we’ve achieved a range of complex shades with incredible depth of colour. The yarn is woolly and full-bodied, balancing softness, bounce and shine.
Available in 22 shades in 4ply, Worsted, Minis and Tops. 33% Bluefaced Leicester / 33% Falklands Merino / 33% Zwartbles.
Knit by Numbers is inspired by the much-loved paint-by-numbers kits of our childhoods. With a colour palette of over 100 different shades it’s created by blending pre-dyed fibre tops with specific percentages of white, resulting in six tonal gradient shades per colour. The blend of Bluefaced Leicester and Merino is next-to-the-skin soft with great stitch definition and just the right amount of shine.
Available in 100+ shades in 4ply, DK, Minis and Tops. 50% Bluefaced Leicester / 50% Falklands Merino.
We love a good bop here at John Arbon Textiles, which got us thinking that it would be wonderful to create a yarn range inspired by our eclectic music tastes – from punk to funk! And so, the Yarnadelic palette was born during an evening of good vibes and chilled wine, with each shade conjuring the sentiment of a favourite song. This groovy range of heathered shades is created from 100% Falklands Corriedale fibre, which is the perfect balance of delightful softness, bounce and slight lustre.
Available in 18 shades in Sport, Worsted, Minis and Tops. 100% Falklands Corriedale.
Made by hand here at our North Devon Mill, these very special shade cards are not only a vital tool to help you pick your perfect colour, but they are a thing of beauty in themselves, that reflect the love and care we show all our yarn and fibre.
There’s nothing quite like a shade card to really understand the feel of a yarn and the rainbow of shades that make up its delicious palette. Our new and improved shade cards use recycled materials, are printed locally, and are made by our mill folk, alongside the help of a rather fancy new machine who we have aptly named Sade (pronounced ‘Sha-day’)!
We all know how tricky it can be to pick the right colour for your project from your computer or phone screen. So this handy shade card will allow you to view all the colours of our ranges and get a proper feel for the texture, all in the comfort of your home. Each card contains a small sample of each available colour in the range. We can just imagine our shade cards proudly displayed on bookshelves and brightening up a crafting area – it’s not just us who love collecting shade cards, right?

Local Fibre
Our mill is situated in the heart of North Devon. As much as possible we use the fibre which is reared and sheared on this land, utilising the unique properties of each breed in our yarn and tops.

Unique Yarn & Tops
The hours of work and skill that go into producing one of our yarn and tops ranges is reflected in the dedication of a knitter, spinner or crocheter during the intricate journey from beginning to finished garment – both are a harmony of tradition and creativity.

Vintage Machines
Our Mill is one of only a handful of small-scale worsted spinning mills still operating in the UK. Many of our vintage machines were rescued from old, traditional mills before their closure. Keeping them going is a labour of love, but we reckon that the resulting woolly treats are well worth it!
