Exmoor Sock Yarn

There’s a new sock yarn in town! We are all really excited about the latest addition to the John Arbon Textiles yarn collection, Exmoor Sock Yarn.

Exmoor Sock yarn is a blend of 85% Exmoor Blueface and 15% Nylon. The Exmoor Blueface sheep are a cross between our local Exmoor Horn and Blue Faced Leicester. It’s a great combination, as Exmoor Horn fleece is strong, warm and durable and the fine Blue Faced Leicester is soft and handles like a dream; a perfect match! We’ve added 15% nylon for strength – nothing worse than holes in precious hand knitted socks!

Exmoor sock yarn is available in 6 brand new colours, that look great combined, or on their own. It is a 3 fold, light 4 ply yarn. Each 100 gram skein has 400 meters, that’s more than enough to knit a pair of socks.

Emily has knit up a lacy bedsock using Smoke and Blossom. The Exmoor Bedsock pattern is available from Ravelry, as well as in our online shop.

It is knit from the top down in a simple, lacy pattern. A tidy and delicate picot cuff, slipped stitch rib heel and contrasting heel and toe make this sock both interesting and fun to knit and wear! Suitable for knitters of most levels.

Slightly slouchy and very comfortable, they are perfect for lounging around in your slippers with a cup of tea on a lazy Sunday morning.
