Digital Annual Back Issues & Throwback Kits!
When we launched the Annual (issue five), we were able to add a digital version to it for the first time ever – and back then we promised we'd do the same for our four back issues! Well, the time has finally come and the Annuals issues one through four are now available in a digital format as well. You can even get the Annual bundle in all PDFs now!
To celebrate the launch of the digital back issues, we thought it'd be fun to throw it back to some of our favourite patterns we've published in the Annual. We picked one pattern for each issue and put together kits in new colours (and yes, the tried and true sample colours are back as well!)
Have a little look around and see if one (or more) of these bring back memories for you – and maybe a little inspiration for a next knitting project? All of these kits and the digital back issues are now available!
Annual (issue four): Walled Garden Vest by Sonja Bargielowska
The playful Walled Garden Vest by Sonja Bargielowska from the Annual (issue four) is inspired by mossy paving stones and the patina of old brickwork. With its log-cabin construction, you can easily add as much or as little colour as you like. Finished with a split hem and a folded rib at the neck for a little extra cosiness, its the perfect transitional layer whatever the weather.
Starting at the centre and working out in a modular fashion, this vest knits up quickly in squishy garter stitch using our Harvest Hues Worsted or Appledore Aran. Alongside the two original sample kits, we've added four more colour combinations – one each in Harvest Hues Worsted and Appledore Aran, and two brand-new ones (Rainbow and Kiss) in our soon-to-be-launched new Yarnadelic Worsted shades!

Annual (issue three): Kemmick Shawl by Anna Husemann
Designed by Anna Husemann, the Kemmick Shawl from the Annual (issue three) is a modern garter and intarsia knitting pattern with two colour palettes inspired by the landscape of Exmoor and the seascape of the north-Devon coastline. This pattern looks like a beautiful aerial view of the fields around Exmoor, so we called it ‘Kemmick’ which means Flax Field, which we thought would be perfect for a textile interpretation of fields!
Knitted from corner to corner, this colourful scarf of abstract interlocking shapes is perfectly paired with our Knit by Numbers DK mini skeins. We've added the two original sample kits alongside two new colour combinations in Appledore DK and Devonia DK!

Annual (issue two): Broad Oak Hill Cowl by Fay Dashper-Hughes
The Broad Oak Hill Cowl is a beautiful textured crochet cowl designed by Fay Dashper-Hughes for the second issue of The Annual. It takes full advantage of the gradient possibilities of our yarns and combines the fade with a lovely geometric textured pattern.
The pattern includes instructions for both DK and Sport weight yarns. While one of the original yarns we used for the monochrome sample is discontinued (Alpaca Supreme), we've replaced it with a couple of options for Yarnadelic Sport that we love!

Annual (issue one): Boyd Hat by Sonja Bargielowska
The Boyd Hat is a delightful colourwork hat designed by our very own Sonja for the very first issue of The Annual. It features a folded or single brim (your pick!), a stunning, almost Art Nouveau-esque bit of colourwork, and fun bobbles and a pompom in a splash of colour.
We've had a lot of fun putting together new colour combinations for it – and while one of the original yarns we used for the cinnamon-brown sample (Viola) is discontinued, we've added an option for Devonia DK in colours that comes pretty close!
