Hand Dyed Yarn – Third Vault Yarns on Harvest Hues 4ply
As part of our Mill Open Weekend celebrations, we have curated a glorious selection of hand dyed yarns, showcasing the dyers who use our bases to create their beautiful wares.
Lola of Third Vault Yarn uses our Harvest Hues 4ply base to create their fantasy-inspired hand dyed skeins. We absolutely adore these shades – Lola manages to create bright colourways with popping colours, as well as lovely subtle shades. Something for everyone!
Lola’s obsessive about crafting, with an addiction to knitting and playing with colour, and a steadfast commitment to staying geeky. The majority if not all of TVY colourways are inspired by Science Fiction and Fantasy themes.

Lola worked their magic on our Harvest Hues 4ply which is a blend of local Devon farmed Zwartbles and lustrous Bluefaced Leicester mixed with soft as a cloud Falklands Merino. When preparing these tops we comb the fibres in one direction, accentuating a blend’s softness, shine and strength. The elegant Merino, bouncy Zwartbles and glowing BFL complement each other perfectly, giving the yarn a delicate woolly halo, impeccable drape and full-bodied texture.
For our 2025 MOW special, Lola has created five stunning, deeply jewel-toned colourways: Flaming Tar Barrels is a warm caramel with splashes of orange; Love Divine is a deep raspberry, almost burgundy tone; Pixies and Partridges mixes deep reds and dark blues and hints of purple. Wisps on Taw introduces a super nuanced olive green with hints of caramel and spring, and A Lounge for the Sun and Road to H takes us into the depths of a cool summer forest.

Third Vault Yarns
Lola started their hand dyeing journey in 2015 which is when Third Vault Yarns was born out of a passion for geeky things and emotive colour. They love to celebrate geeky things with geeky yarn, bringing fantasy themes to life in moody and rich colour or creating zingy science fiction inspired yarn in tonally variegated joyful yarn.

This yarn is non-superwash, so it does best when hand washed at low temperature with mild detergent. Every skein is unique as it’s hand dyed, so we recommend striping two skeins together if making a larger project. This also means the skein you receive might look slightly different than on the product photo.
