Hand Dyed Yarn – Tricot and Stitch on Exmoor Sock
As part of our Mill Open Weekend celebrations, we have curated a glorious selection of hand dyed yarns, showcasing the dyers who use our bases to create their beautiful wares.
It is the season of the witch with these magical hand dyed skeins by Christelle of Tricot and Stitch! She worked her magic on 100g skeins of our Exmoor Sock for our 2025 MOW hand dyed specials, and came up with a set of gorgeous jewel tones.
We are so thrilled that Christelle from Tricot and Stitch is part of our 2025 MOW hand dyed specials lineup.
There’s nothing better than a fun skein of yarn for knitting socks, if you ask us! So we were chuffed to bits to see Christelle’s hand dyeing talents on Exmoor Sock, our blend of 60% Exmoor Blueface, 20% Corriedale and 10% Zwartbles, with 10% Nylon added in for a bit of strength. While we’ve designed this yarn specifically for socks, it’s a true workhorse and can be used for garments and accessories as well!
Christelle has dyed up four gorgeous colourways for us: Pumpkin Patch, a warm orange with bits of green; Season of the Witch, a blood-red burgundy with forest undertones; Fairy Tale, a variegated wonder with purple and burgundy and silver; and New Moon, a deep, witchy blue with hints of purple.

Christelle is a prolific member of the knitting world: Not only has she been dyeing yarn fulltime since 2019, she is also a knitwear designer and has her own podcast. As she is French, a lot of her work is both in French and English! She dyes her delightful colourways, inspired by fantasy and pop culture, in her home studio in Normandy, using heavy metal-free acid dyes. She also takes care to use as little water as possible and only renewable energy in her dyeing!

Exmoor Sock is machine washable, but we encourage you to hand wash its hand dyed skeins at low temperature with mild detergent as this yarn is hand dyed. Every skein is unique as it’s hand dyed, so we recommend striping two skeins together if making a larger project. This also means the skein you receive might look slightly different than on the product photo.
