Knitwear Design and Writing a Book with Meiju Kallio
Saturday 5th July 2025, 14:30 – 15:30 (BST / GMT+1)
Join us as we chat to one of our favourite knitwear designers – Meiju Kallio of Meiju Knits. We’ll have a cosy natter where we discuss everything knitwear design and Meiju’s own design practice. We’ll even have time to ask your burning questions… So grab a cuppa’ and come along for an inspiring hour of creativity.
Meiju, of Meiju Knits is a prolific designer who has created some of our favourite patterns. Her first book, ‘Contrasts’, published by Laine, is a stunner, and her newest book, also published by Laine, ‘Entwined: Cables, Lace and Knitted Textures,’ is a beautiful read too! Her patterns are a blend of modern elements with clever textures and design, making them ideal for elevated everyday wear. Some samples are even knit up in JAT yarns!
We were thrilled that Meiju decided to take an hour to have a natter with us and talk about her design process and the inspiration behind her beautiful work and what it’s really like to write a book in our industry. We’ll be asking her how she came to the knitwear business, how she creates her patterns, and ask her advice for anyone else interested in creating their own designs.
There will also be time at the end for your questions!
This event will be hosted on Zoom. It is one of many being planned for our Virtual Mill Open Weekend celebrations. Please follow this link to see all that we are planning for this year’s Virtual MOW.
