A Vest, a Shawl, a Tee, a Cardi, a Jumper – Our First Five Seafarer Kits!
We've been obsessed with our latest range Seafarer for well over a year now and are so, so thrilled that you all seem to love it as much as we do! We've tested in in soothing stockinette, charming colourwork and thrilling texture, and it just shines in every single one of them. Which also means: We just had to put together a few kits in Seafarer for our favourite samples!
When we put together the list for the sample photoshoot, we realized that we had knit up rather more Seafarer samples than we originally intended (oops!), and so this is the first series of Seafarer kits that we'll be launching. Geared towards the chillier fall and upcoming winter days, we have a vest that's perfect for layering, a cosy shawl, a delightful T-Shirt, a comfy cardigan and a warm jumper.
These five kits will be available from October 24 onwards. Links will be working on October 24 too :)
Sleeveless Vest by Lone Kjeldsen
Sonja's Sleeveless Vest (a design by Lone Kjeldsen) has been a firm favourite everywhere she wears it – it was one of the most popular samples at Yarndale, and every time she wears it during one of our team calls, it goes higher on my "to knit" list. It's the perfect layering piece over a long-sleeved T-shirt or a shirt, and really fun to knit with its different rib textures.
Sonja knit hers in Murex, and we've put together a rainbow of colour options for the kits (I'm secretly thinking I might need one in every colour!)
Top Row, left to right: Murex, Leviathan, Melusine
Bottom Row, left to right: Nessie, Hydra, Scylla & Charybdis, Dobhar-Chu
Dunas Shawl by Gretha Mensen
Seafarer excels at showing off texture, and so we knew that we wanted a shawl filled with beautiful stitch patterns to cosy up in on colder autumn and winter days. Gretha Mensen's Dunas Shawl quickly rose to the top of our sample list – its triangular shape makes it really wearable, while the combination of cables and textures keeps the knitting intriguing!
Our sample is knit in Siren, and we picked out a few more colours that would show off the different textures really well:
Top Row, left to right: Siren, Kelpie, Melusine
Bottom Row, left to right: Kappa, Namazu, Murex, Abaia
Kuutar Tee by Sari Nordlund
Top Row, left to right: Abaia, Melusine, Megalodon
Bottom Row, left to right: Neptune, Namazu, Murex
Thelma Cardigan by Natasja Hornby
This was by far the most popular sample at Yarndale – and I completely understand why! Natasja Hornby's Thelma Cardigan is equal parts wardrobe staple and showstopper. It combines a drop-shoulder silhouette with an open front to a cardigan that is perfect for layering, and the combination of the two different stitch patterns is just genius: Clear lines flow down the body into a bouquet of lace flowers. Seafarer's drape really comes into play here!
We've had our sample knit up in Nessie, and were spoilt for choice when it came to selecting the other kit colours, so we went for wearable and layerable!
Top Row, left to right: Nessie, Kelpie, Neptune
Bottom Row, left to right: Lyngbakr, Pisces, Selkie
Mokosh Pullover by Teti Lutsak
Last, but very certainly not least, we just had to show you how well Seafarer works for colourwork! I completely fell in love with Teti Lutsak's Mokosh Pullover when I first saw it, and was so thrilled when the team agreed to let me knit it as a sample. This top-down all-over colourwork jumper comes with different options for the neckline, short-row shaping and sleeves – perfect if you (like me) like to modify your knits a little. I went with the double neckline and 3/4 length stockinette sleeves.
Our Mokosh Pullover sample is knit up in Murex (C1), Lyngbakr (C2), Kraken (C3) and Moby Dick (C4), and we've put together a few other colour combinations we love:
Nessie (C1), Megalodon (C2), Kappa (C3), Melusine (C4)
Selkie (C1), Abaia (C2), Dobhar-Chu (C3), Nuggle (C4)
Scylla & Charybdis (C1), Namazu (C2), Neptune (C3), Moby Dick (C4)
Our first five Seafarer kits will hit the shop shelves on October 24!
