From Petal to Palette – Natural Dyeing with Kerry of Ginger Pink Yarns

This talk is part of our Mill Open Weekend celebrations.

Kerry, the creator and indie dyer behind Ginger Pink Yarns, is here to share her unique insight, using grown and foraged materials to create beautiful dyed fibre.

As well as sharing her own story and inspiration for her small business, you’ll discover the plants you can grow and forage, using them to create natural dyes. From wild finds such as alder cones and dock leaves to home grown dye sources including woad and coreopsis, this talk will introduce you to some of the incredible dye colours that can be found in nature.

Throughout the talk you will also learn more about the history and use of some of the most common dye plants, including the weed that was used to produce green dye for army uniforms and a dye that has been found on Ancient Egyptian mummies…

We will also have plenty of time for questions at the end!
