Take the Scary Out of Steeking With Aleks Byrd

This workshop is part of our Mill Open Weekend celebrations.

Tackle the steek and open a whole new world of possibilities with your knitting!

Steeking can be a bit daunting for even the most accomplished maker. Luckily, expert Aleks Byrd, is on hand to take away the fear and add another skill to our arsenal of techniques.

Explore two different styles of steeked edges, from the fun of a knotted fringe steek (ideal for shawls) and the versatile crochet reinforcement method (which will work on anything you fancy). The class then finishes off with the neat and tidy steek sandwich – a band which makes a great finishing touch by enclosing steeked edges between stocking stitch panels.
