Mrs UN Owen DK – Hand Dyed by Telling Yarns

£24.00 per 100g skein

We absolutely LOVE working with our pal Beth of Telling Yarns, and we are so excited to show you Mrs UN Owen. These skeins have been dyed by Beth on her custom DK base, which we spin for her right here at our Mill.

Mysterious invitations to a secluded Devonshire island, ten suspicious strangers stranded in a spooky house, unexplained deaths… It sure sounds like an Agatha Christie novel to us, and in our opinion, there’s no better inspiration for a wonderfully enigmatic, limited edition colourway. Her best selling novel, ‘And Then There Were None’, is set off the coast of Devon and features a mysterious host, Mrs UN Owen. We won’t say more for fear of spoiling this spinetingler for anyone who hasn’t read it yet. These skeins take their name from this character, and we can’t think of a better theme for this wonderfully subtle, shifting shade! Working with this yarn is just as addictive as discovering the answer to a Christie mystery!

This sophisticated terracotta (with hints of pink and delicate speckles of rust) is such a classy shade, we can imagine anything created in it quickly becoming a wardrobe staple. We can just imagine Miss Marple herself sitting in the corner with a skein or two, keeping a close eye on her suspects whilst unobtrusively knitting away. She’d be well ahead of Mrs UN Owen’s tricks if she’d been present!

Did you know that beloved crime fiction author, Agatha Christie, spent many years living in Devon? She particularly loved the sunny South coast and its beaches. Our pal Beth of Telling Yarns always takes her inspiration from literary works, so we were over the moon when we realised that she and us Mill Folks have a shared love of Christie’s crime novels.
