Back in the swing of things
We haven’t wasted any time getting back into the swing of things at the new mill. Production is in full swing as we replenish our stock of carded fibre, tops and rovings. The excitement of working in the new space hasn’t worn off yet (we have a forklift, wahoo!)
Here is some Alpaca Supreme top, after it’s first gilling. Rest assured, we will have fresh supply of all the grey Supreme yarns for Yarndale, coming up next weekend!!!
A soft, shiny can-full of merino silk, also after it’s first gilling. Because silk is such a dense fibre, it must be gilled quite a few times before it is sufficiently blended in with the merino. It’s no hardship to spend all day working with this stuff though!
Lastly, some combed Wensleydale. We love wensleydale at John Arbon textiles; such a long staple length and beautiful lustre!
All in all, it was an exciting week of processing at the new mill! We’re buzzing around with Yarndale preparations at the moment, and can’t wait to share these yarns and more, fresh off the spinner! Hope to see you there!
