Designing this Year’s MOW Special – Survey #2 Results

You may have noticed that we’re mixing things up for this year’s Mill Open Weekend special by making you all honorary Mill Folk and inviting you to help us! We’re inviting you to give us a hand whipping up those specials, lending a hand picking everything from selecting the blend, to naming the shades. We created a series of surveys to help guide you through the steps. And happily the results of the first two are now in.
So we can now reveal that this year’s MOW special will be majority Corriedale—no surprise there as it’s a gorgeously soft and bouncy fibre. We reckon it’s well suited to pretty much anything you might fancy making in it! You then chose to blend the Corriedale with soft and lustrous Grey Exmoor Blueface and then accentuate the drape even more by adding a dash of Romney. Mmmh, sounds divine doesn’t it?
Composition: 75% Corriedale / 17% Grey Exmoor Blueface / 8% Romney
Spec: 4ply – 400m per 100g / also available as tops
In the first survey you also told us what kind of feel you wanted the colour palette to have. We took all of those answers you gave us last time and created a few colour palette options. Us Mill Folk were rather smitten with all the options above, so it was quite a relief that you all did the hard work of narrowing things down further for us – hehehe!
The results are in and cor blimey was it close! A proper nail biter with the top two palettes being within 8 votes of each other. We’ve been watching the results come in over the week and the two most popular palettes kept overtaking each other, so it was all to play for still right up to the end. But oohee, we love the one you’ve selected. It’s got blues, greens and teal, tonal colours and also colour pops! Its going to be a real treat to craft with once it’s spun up.
We also asked you for suggestions of possible themes for this range and you’ve submitted oodles and oodles of brilliant suggestions, thanks! Below is a little summary of which themes you’ve suggested and how many times they came up. We’re still looking through them to narrow things down to just a handful, but will be in touch again in a few weeks’ time for you to pick the theme of this yarn – and maybe another little surprise too?
