Wooltastic Unravel Prep

It’s almost showtime!  Behind the scenes, John and the Mill folk have been especially busy getting everything ready for the first show of 2019… yes it’s Unravel.  We can’t wait to see you there and share our lovely woolly wares with you in person and have a good ol’ natter.

Exmoor Sock 4ply being spun and skeined

We are thrilled to debut our brand new Exmoor Sock Yarn at this years Unravel. Our new 4ply sock comes in 13 super-saturated shades. When you see and feel this yarn, we hope you will fall in love with it too – and that your fingers will be itching to reach for your needles to knit up some cosy new socks, shawls and / or jumpers. The range is made from a delicious blend of Exmoor Blueface, Devon Zwartbles and Corriedale and is machine washable.  The blend produces a soft, lustrous yarn that is also, most importantly, hard-wearing. We had great fun selecting the colour names – each reflect our Devonshire heritage and dialect.  Particular favourites are Bibble Bug (woodlouse), Bell Heather (moorland shrub) and Quick Beam (rowan tree berries)!

Patterns, clockwise from top left: Eruca, Gallivant, Gavl, Lost in Sherwood, Sanseveria, and Lidden.

To accompany this gorgeous yarn, we have released some swanky patterns designed to adorn hands and feet of all ages. We’re currently hosting a KAL in our Ravelry Group, so please do pop over and join us, if you’re thinking of casting on a pair of new socks or gloves in our new yarn.

As well as our shinny new Exmoor Sock range, all the usual woolly culprits, will also be in attendance. We’ll have our glorious Knit by Numbers cabinets on both – 100g skeins in both 4ply and DK (along with their 25g mini skein friends).

Our expanded Harvest Hues colour palette will be on show in the form of both Yarns and Tops. We love the bounce and spring and the sumptuous depth of colour which is created when the naturally chocolate brown Zwartbles is blended with the dyed Falklands Merino.

We will also have our lustrous Devonia yarn. With a delicate woolly halo after blocking, this yarn is perfectly suited to warm jumpers and cardigans. Laine Magazine have just published the Bohus Cardigan, by Carol Feller, designed in our Devonia DK. We’ll have plenty of Devonia if you fancy casting on a jumper of your own! With so many wonderful combinations to play with – which shades would you pick?

John is currently whipping up a few of his signature Tops specials, so make sure to keep an eye on our social media to catch a glimpse of them before the show. We’re so excited for our first one of the year, it’ll be such a blast to see you all again and have a woolly catch up.  See you soon!
